Now, I'm all for children serving me tea when I wear my furs, but I don't think I'd trust anything that kid told me to do. "Community Affairs?" Whatever that means, I'm sure it's shady. I've seen that look before, and it was from a guy who drank a bottle of codeine a day.

There are so many great things about this picture: The wife's "well now..." one-finger-on-the- cheek expression is one-upped by the husband smoking a pipe while washing dishes. One nice thing is that this gives pictorial evidence that, contrary to not-very-credible memes, the role of a housewife in the 50's was not necessarily expected to be one of a lobotomized worker-droid.
