
There are so many great things about this picture: The wife's "well now..." one-finger-on-the- cheek expression is one-upped by the husband smoking a pipe while washing dishes. One nice thing is that this gives pictorial evidence that, contrary to not-very-credible memes, the role of a housewife in the 50's was not necessarily expected to be one of a lobotomized worker-droid.
My hubby looked at that and said "he's just showing her how to do it properly, otherwise it's 5 across the eyes!"

Is she sitting so close as to provide helpful commentry in the correct ways of washing dishes, or maybe it's more enjoyable viewing than whatt's on the t.v in the 1950's. Heck, I'd love to watch a man wash the dishes at my place rather than reality tv any day!
